2014 Kia Forte Sedan - FROM $
The 2014 Kia Forte has plenty to offer in terms of value, and its sharp new look promises to close the gap on classier competitors.
What's New for 2014
The 2014 Kia Forte will be fully redesigned. Expect an aggressive new look, improved ride quality and new engine choices.
We've only seen photos of the forthcoming 2014 Kia Forte as a heavily camouflaged test mule or as a design studio rendering, but so far we like what we see. If the Forte gets the same makeover that has transformed much of Kia's current lineup, we expect the new Forte to be one of the sharpest compact designs in the class. Kia has already noted that the Forte will be longer, lower and wider than the current model.
The Forte should be based on the latest Hyundai Elantra, and the increase in overall length should offer more leg-, head- and shoulder room throughout the cabin.
Kia has already confirmed that the U.S. will get the sedan, four-door hatchback and coupe (or "Koup") variants of the Forte. We expect the 2014 Forte to feature the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder found in the current Hyundai Elantra, and it will be matched with the choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The six-speed dual-clutch automated manual that's used in the Hyundai Veloster is also a possibility. Kia might also offer the Veloster's 201-horsepower, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder as an upgrade choice.
We'll know more about the 2014 Kia Forte after its expected debut late this year or in early 2013. Check back for a full review of the new Forte, including specs, driving impressions and buying advice as it becomes available.
